Reiki Lineage
A Reiki lineage is the historical path of teachings and attunements traced back to the founder of Reiki, Mikao Usui. It is vital as it maintains the purity and integrity of the practice, ensuring that each practitioner has been properly trained and attuned by a qualified Reiki Master. There are two primary lineages: Western and Eastern. The Western lineage often emphasizes standardized hand positions and procedures, while the Eastern lineage, rooted in traditional Japanese practices, focuses on intuitive healing and spiritual development. Usui Shiki Ryoho, a well-known form of Reiki, blends these approaches, emphasizing the spiritual and healing aspects of Reiki. My lineage is of the Usui Shiki Ryoho, and I am honored to carry teachings from both Western and Eastern lineages, providing a holistic and inclusive approach to Reiki healing.

My Reiki journey is rooted in something deeply personal:
— I was certified by my mother, Serena Hogan, a Reiki Master Teacher whose own training spans three rich lineages.
Her original lineage is the Usui Shiki Ryoho, received in 1993 through certification with Aleia O’Reilly, Meg Bollig, and Caroline Heart.
She later deepened her practice by completing Reiki II with Penelope Quest in 2021 (a Western lineage), and furthered her mastery through the Eastern Usui Shiki Ryoho with Torsten Lange.
Under her guidance, I received my Level I certification in 2021, Level II in 2023, and Level III (Master) in 2024.
Qualifications & Credintials
To practice the laying of hands in Washington State, I am a proud ordained minister with the Universal Life Church, ensuring that every session I offer is both legally grounded and spiritually intentional. I carry professional Reiki insurance through Massage Magazine, so you can feel confident and at ease in our work together.
in 2004, I received my BA in Communication from the University of Arizona which informs everything I create — from the affirmations and newsletters I write, to the Mid-Week Retreat on Substack, to the Reiki training manuals I’ve developed for my students, and the way I hold space for the people I serve.
Together, these foundations shape a practice built on lineage, integrity, and heart.
